Hi, I’d like to discuss the matter of personal brands in copywriting. I should say that from my point of view a personal brand, it certainly serious, particularly in copyrighting, where customers often work with strangers. I mean that in most cases customers don’t know copywriters personally. Each of us probably has his favorite theme. For example my beloved theme is closely connected with computer games and I’ve been writing articles on this topic a long time and rather professionally. But let’s be honest. It’s known that copyrighting is not only creativity, but it’s also a hard work or even a kind of business if you like this definition. Many great poets, artists, directors, did their job not because of their sincere love to art. On the contrary they had exactly commercial purposes for whatever reasons such as their lack of money or a certain political situation. It’s believed that it’s almost impossible to succeed in any kind of art when being driven only by money. Of course average results can’t be considered to be masterpieces but in most cases quite decent things can appear any way. To my mind these decent things are possible due to the inherent skill of the creator. And I do not see anything wrong with the fact that even a masthead copywriter sometimes takes on such articles which can’t be his topic indeed especially if he is satisfied with the price and volume of small articles. I should say that it’s not a banal pursuit of money in my opinion. I think that it’s an additional chance of starting a personal professional growth.
I do not believe that an experienced copywriter with a good writing style and higher education, enlisting the support of logic and search engines won’t be able to write a perfect article including about 1000 signs on the topic of second-hand vehicles or delivery of meals to the office, even if this guy knows nothing about this. And if the quality of this article is rather satisfactory for the customer then I think it would be a good thing for you to do the same.
By the way many same authors of popular blogs often write in their electronic diaries serious notes on topics far from their activities. So as you can see bloggers often step aside from their main topics. Why can’t you do the same? I think you should do the same any way if you want to be competitive in this field. So there’s no need to stick to the only one personal brand depriving yourself of a great number of opportunities in such a way. Do your best to become a multifunctional copywriter because only in this case you’ll be able to earn more money in copywriting.
