Avoid Work At Home Scams in 5 Simple Steps

Under Home Business, Work at Home

Many people today are getting scammed by fake work at home jobs and business opportunities. If you want to keep your identity and your wallet in tact you will need to take the time to investigate and research these companies and work at home jobs. Here are five effective things that you can do to learn about an opportunity that you might be considering.

1. Investigate the company. Search work at home forums on the internet and search them for what other people are saying about the job or the business. Find out as much as possible about the company including where it is located etc. Take notes to compare between those that you like later on.

2. How much does it cost? If it’s a work at home job, then it should be totally free, if it’s not free, don’t consider it. If it’s a business opportunity there can sometimes be costs or fees associated with joining a company like this, but there are plenty of free ones out there as well that are much more likely to be genuine. So for the sake of being extra careful, if the opportunity you’re considering has any type of fee…only consider joining if it also offers a free membership level where you have the option of upgrading to a higher fee based level later on, after you are satisfied that the opportunity is a good one.

3. Don’t get caught up in the hype. Hype is a bit of advertising and most things are going to have a little bit of hype. What we are after are the facts behind the company and do they hold up under scrutiny.

4. Ask them questions. What support will there be, is there training available, how are you to be paid, what are the expectations of you, etc. Don’t be shy, write down your concerns and make sure each of them in addressed before you commit yourself.

5. Be aware of popular scams. We all know that stuffing envelopes is a scam but you need to be aware of other potential scams. If you’re asked to pay a fee so you can process claims, or rebates, data entry, it’s likely a scam. Chain letters and overseas shipment scams are also popular these days. If anyone tells you that you can make a lot of money quickly and easily they are probably trying to scam you…run away!

People fall in to all sorts of scams and you can avoid them by following a set of criteria like these 5 keys. You have probably seen much of this information before but it might help to see it in an organized way. I have used this information to help me in my personal search for a legitimate business opportunity and I hope that it helps you in your search.
