Just because you only operate over the Internet and rarely see anyone face to face does not give you the excuse to provide poor customer service. Actually, it is usually even more important for internet businesses to pay particular attention to their customer service. Since you are operating in a field that is largely run by automation, probably why you got into it in the first place, you need great customer service to provide something tangible that separates you from your competition. This can be the difference between having one time buyers and repeated business.

Use the email list of your customers to ask for any suggestions about what you should do to improve the services you offer. Explain that you might not be able to put every single suggestion into practice, but that you value their input in helping you make your business better. Some of the things you may learn could surprise you. You may even remind some customers that they’ve been meaning to utilize your services. That one simple “help me help you” e-mail could bring in several sales!

Run a giveaway for past customers. This will encourage people to contact you. You don’t have to give something away to every person who e-mails you. You choose how the contest will be run. If they win, people get really excited. Offer one of your products for free to a random response chosen from those who answer a question you send out. This question can be in the form of a simple trivia question or you can use it to get feedback on your business. Get ready to get a lot of responses, no matter what question you ask. You could even get email from individuals who were not your original list.

Supporting your own products or services is of paramount importance.

The technical abilities of your customers will vary. Some will really struggle with computer use. Allow people free support and they will keep coming back to you time and again. They’ll be much more likely to recommend you to their associates. Your customers will tell their friends, and they will tell their friends, and so on and so forth. When people know you care enough about them to offer free support for your products, they are going to spread the word to people and you will definitely benefit.

It only makes sense to offer great customer service. See what kind of customer service is provided by other internet marketers. Those with good customer service will bring in more sales than those who don’t. Think along the lines of inviting real people to buy from you, not just customers. You can’t see them as just accounts that pay you money. Treating them with respect and kindness will encourage them to buy form you again and again and again!
