The truth is that customer service is just as valuable to an online business as it is to an offline business. Follow these simple customer service tips and see your clients and customers returning time and again to purchase from you.
Ask your current customers, via email, what they would suggest you do to improve your business. Make sure to tell them you probably won’t be able to make every change suggested, but that their opinion is very important to you. The replies you receive will be pretty interesting, in most cases. In fact, you might remind some of the recipients about things they had been meaning to buy from you. You could make lots of sales from your simple email.
It’s good to allow your customers to call you on the phone or write to you by mail, especially if your business is small and provides a service. It isn’t very costly to rent a mailing address such as a post office box. Skype is very affordable. Having such a presence offline will make people trust you more, especially if they can easily reach you on the phone or by Skype calls. You don’t have to answer the phone all night; have regular hours set aside for this, and post these hours online so people will know when they can call you. Make sure you are actually available during the time you say you’ll be. If you want to provide good customer service you also have to make it easy for customers to contact you to leave feedback or ask questions. If there is no obvious way to make contact with you, people are less likely to buy anything from you. Sites that don’t have ways for customers to contact the owners appear to be untrustworthy or scams. You have to be available to your customers and potential customers. You have to give people a form or e-mail address where they can contact you if they want. Some internet marketers feel that this means more work for them, but think instead of the additional sales it could mean for you. Simply seeing that you are someone who is reachable may be enough to convert a visitor to your site into someone who makes a purchase.
Good customer service does not have to be hard. As a matter of fact, it shouldn’t really take you that long to offer good customer service.
