Plugging Into The Social Networking Socket – How Much Is Too Much

Under Make Money at Home

I am fascinated by the world of social networking. I really like the implications of “tribes” discovering one another and connecting round widespread interests. I love writing too, and this playground gives me lots of opportunities to practice.

At instances, nonetheless, I ponder if it’s too much juggling: too much checking to see who’s tweeting what, who’s following whom; wondering if it’s time to add more content to my Fan Web page on Fb; getting pulled into a discussion stream on LinkedIn; fussing over the content and photographs on my beloved weblog to which I’m a loyal and passionate contributor.

I’ve gotten pretty good at navigating this world of on-line communications. Via dogged futzing, I’ve discovered how to use and add HTML code, photographs, banners, applications (apps), click-through buttons. Have to be my passion for decorating coming via; my love of creating the areas look more inviting and litter-free.

But this is what I am rapidly realizing: The expertise that has allowed us all to attach with each other without spending a dime would not stop, and even wait for us to grock, combine, and ease into its marvels. It continues to morph and develop at lightening speeds.

So the query isn’t how do we slow down the freight prepare? Or quiet the ever-growing noise that these sites produce?

The actual question for me personally (who would not wish to miss out on something) is:

• How do I slow down so that I am not getting misplaced in the noise and the thrill of “newer and higher”?
• At what point do I stop adding more issues that need tending and managing?
• At what level is what I am doing not including worth (i.e. creating more clutter)?

Next time I’m drawn to a different social networking website, a nifty function, a free supply, or a fabulous dialogue, this is what I will be asking myself (and cringing about in consequence):

• Does connecting right now serve and assist me personally and make my coronary heart sing?
• Does inserting this nifty app, photo, gizmo, banner, click on-by means of button add value (and/or increase my on-line presence and visibility as a instructor and writer)?
• Would I die if I didn’t examine my horoscope, discover out which Goddess I signify, scroll via the 500 photographs of a household vacation?
• Would my life be eternally altered if I didn’t read each single message that individuals posted?
• Would it kill me to delete a few of the messages that show up in my inbox without studying them first? [Ouch!… noticing a number of squirming with this one – as my “missing out” button gets royally pressed!]

If time administration is the issue, I will be asking…

• How a lot time is smart to permit for this right this moment?

If I cannot wrap my mind around any of it within the second, and I am feeling completely overwhelmed, I will be reaching for my all-purpose antidote – my favorite mantra that helps me come back to center again:

“I select ease.”
